I, Pirkka Harvala, was born in Rovaniemi, Finland, on 3rd of July, 1979. I'm not quite sure when I first started to express myself through drawing, but it was at a fairly young age. However, at younger age there were a number of distractions from drawing on a continuous basis, such as interest in sports, martial arts and hiking.

I had started playing role-playing games actively by the time I was a teenager, and through this I was exposed to books with beautiful illustrations of fantasy and sci-fi themes. Seeing this beautiful art inspired me to start sketching and drawing about the same themes. On 8th grade of elementary school, I was granted a stipend of arts, and upon giving it the teacher asked me whether I was going to be a graphics designer, illustrator or take some other artistic occupation. I thought to myself, "Yes! This is what I want to do", and from there on, I was even more determined to advance towards an artistic profession.

After finishing elementary school, I studied in upper secondary school of visual arts. Keeping thoughts on my intension. After completing secondary school, I applied to a post-secondary school of visual arts, and was accepted. This was the Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences. Where I started studying fine arts in the cultural unit. The main focus of the education was expressing art through digital media. This allowed me to learn more about computer graphics and digital art in general. I made a lot of good friends during this period, who helped me follow today's art trends, and helped me further find my area of specialty and what I wanted to concentrate on.

My most often used tools are Adobe Photoshop and Wacom Tablet. I also can use Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver, Art Rage, Corel Painter, and even a bit Blender 3D.
